Island Raincoats used as new forms of Shelter

Asia Arce, Entertainment Editor

If I was stranded on an island, I would bring chapstick, a long brimmed hat, and a raincoat. I would bring chapstick because sadly I feel like my lips are always chapped and I absolutely hate that feeling of dry lips. Plus, if I was on an island, they would start to split because of the heat and dryness and that does not sound comfortable at all. I would bring a long brimmed hat to shield myself from the sun. I am not trying to look like Tom Hanks in Cast Away. That sunburn would be so bad and painful, so I am going to try to avoid that at all costs. Plus, I also want to decrease my chances of getting skin cancer if I can’t bring sunscreen.

The last item I would bring would be a raincoat. I would bring a raincoat because storms on islands are so terrible and sometimes very violent. I would not want to be out in the open with no protection, especially if the shelter I would try to make is horrible. I want to avoid being completely soaked at all times if possible. I watch a lot of survival shows, so I am somewhat confident that I can find everything else I need on the island in order to make certain tools for survival. Well, I’m confident that I can try to attempt to make those tools… who knows if I can actually do it.

A celebrity I would bring along with me on the island would be Bruno Mars. At least if we are stranded, he could sing to make the time go by. Plus, I love his voice and it would be like a once in a lifetime opportunity to have Bruno Mars personally sing for me. Also, he’s from Hawaii so maybe he’s like a island-whisperer or something of the sorts.
