Women’s lacrosse falls to Boston University
February 27, 2019
In their third game of the season, the Hartford women’s lacrosse team took on Boston University for the first time in program history. On Saturday, the Hawks hoped to grab their first win of the season, but couldn’t prevail against the Terriers.
BU opened up the game with the first draw control and the senior, Kelly Matthews, quickly put the ball in the back of the net against Hartford’s freshman goalie, Emma Privitera. In the first eight minutes of the game, the Terriers put three goals up on the board.
Hartford’s Megan Miller struck back after seven minutes with a free-position shot, making it a competitive 3-1 score. Minutes later in the second half, Miller struck again with an unassisted goal to make the score 6-2. For the remainder of the game, the Hawks would not score against the BU defense.
On Hartford’s defensive end, Privitera managed to tally 22 saves, a new program record. Following the Wednesday matchup against the Yale Bulldogs, the Hawks host LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds on Saturday, March 7, at 2 p.m.
Historically, Hartford’s women’s lacrosse team has played Blackbirds once in their program history and lost by a score of 2-19. This game follows the men’s lacrosse game on Al-Marzook Field against Harvard at 11 a.m.
