The Hawks now start the season 0-8 as men’s baseball drops their three game series to Lipscomb on Friday and Saturday. Senior Chris Kachmar of Lipscomb threw six one-hit innings, leading the Bison to 6-6 on the season after taking game one 7-0. The game went scoreless through the first five innings until Lipscomb broke through with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning. They added another in the sixth to push the lead to 2-0.

Hartford tried its best to answer in the bottom of the seventh as sophomore Drew DeMartino and freshman Eric Bonkowski reached base making it first and third with one out. Their hopes went without answer as neither scored and the Bison added five more to make it 7-0. Ardito was the only Hartford player with a hit going 2-4 with two singles.

Game two was a different style of gameplay as the Hawks were down two runs after the first three innings.  Hartford ran it back scoring two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth. Sophomore Drew DeMartino hit a three run blast giving the Hawks the 5-2 lead.

Lipscomb responded with a run in the fifth followed by six more in the sixth to make the score 9-6. The Hawks tried to rally once again in the seventh with John Thrasher reaching on a fielding error and bringing in junior Jackson Olson. The following batter Zachary Ardito came up next and grounded into a double play but scoring Donnie Cohoon. Game two had the Hawks season high scoring with eight runs and walked 11 times.

The men’s team will faceoff against UAlbany at 12p.m. on March 16.
