Softball Battles Stony Brook

The Hartford Softball team hosted the Stony Brook Seawolves for an America East showdown Sunday, March 31.  From the start, this game was all Stony Brook. The contest opened with the Seawolves scoring three runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-run double from Stony Brook’s Melissa Rahrich, and an RBI single from Nicole McCarvill. After shutting out the Hawks in the bottom of the first, the Seawolves would go on to score at least one run in each remaining innings.  This one was over in just five innings as Stony Brook’s Melissa Rahrich pitched a shutout over the Hawks.  The final score of the contest was 9-0 Stony Brook. The Hawks only were able to muster up a total of three hits against the Seawolves. Two of these three hits came from sophomore, Danielle Rocheleau, who despite a poor team performance, continued her impressive season in which she is batting with an incredible average of .486. With this loss, Hartford Softball falls to 11-12 overall, with a conference record of 1-2.  The Hawks will look to turn things around after this tough loss.
