What is in Stores for Dancing With The Stars
April 10, 2019
It was announced that Dancing with the Stars will be renewed for season twenty-eight back in the early part of January. However, rumors have been going around that the upcoming cast for season twenty-eight is going to be the best yet, and worth the wait. Season twenty-eight was expected to premier in the spring of 2019, but due to declining ratings and a much controversial season twenty-seven last fall, the ABC network decided to push back the show to next fall. There is no word on what celebrities or professional dancers that will be taking to the floor, however, one professional dancer already confirmed to be returning in last year’s winner, Sharna Burgess. Season fourteen champion professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd has announced that she is willing to returned to the show, after taking a few seasons off to take care of her growing family with former professional dancer and season eighteen champion, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The show after taking a couple extra months off can comeback with stronger ratings, overall viewership the last few years has been steady, but the key demo the 18-49 category has been on the decline the last few seasons in-which could be from the stars that have been cast on the last few seasons of the show. The series has been also criticized for casting D-list stars, in-which going up against primetime rival The Voice, might not be the best strategy. As the summer season get near, more news will be announced into who and what will be cast on the show. As a new challenge for the long running television series, they should cast non-celebrity contestants like singing shows American Idol and The Voice do, just the singing shows are auditions to be on it. As time goes on we will only see what season twenty-eight will look like.
