UHart Professor Honored

On October 18th. Associate Professor of Political Science Bilal Sekou, of Hillyer College, was honored at the 2019 100 Men of Color Gala and Awards.
This is the seventh year that this event has taken place in which men of color are acknowledged for the ways in which they have impacted people and for their contributions to the State of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Western Massachusetts.
Along with being honored, Sekou also received a proclamation from Connecticut in which October 18, 2019, now is forever known as “Bilal Sekou Ph.D. Day”.
With interests in social and political participation in the African American community, Professor Sekou joined the University of Hartford in the summer of 2002.
Whilst also being a professor, Sekou also is on the Board of Directors for several organizations including the Connecticut Citizen Action Group and Connecticut Center For A New Economy.
