Women’s Basketball Loses Again

The women of the University of Hartford women’s basketball loses big against UMass, 74-48 being the final score. Sunday afternoon was an overcast day on the east coast, but even so the team wasn’t able to score the win to bring home. UMass opened the game with a roaring start, with a 20-2 run straight into just under the first ten minutes of the game. UMass delivered some incredible offensive and defensive plays, as well as excellence force of assets and shots off the backboard. UMass extended their lead by the end of the first quarter to 28-8, and went even further with the scoring. Eventually by halftime, the first half concluded with a 44-17 on the board, in favor of the women from UMass.

During the second half, the UMass women continue to dominate the court. By once again extending their lead to at one point, 74-48. Which concluded the game for the day. On the other hand, The Hawks shutout the game with an 11-0 run, making UMass scoreless during the final six minutes of the game for the 74-48 final. With the loss to UMass, the Hartford Hawks fall to 0-4 in the season and year so far, while the Minutewomen improved upwards, with a  2-2 on the season. The Hawks of women’s basketball will return to the courts on Friday November 22nd, when they travel to take Harvard to wrap-up one of their last games before the Thanksgiving break. Tip-off  is set for 6 p.m. from Lavietes Arena, with the game being broadcast on ESPN+ throughout the night.
