Meet the Informer: T.J. Hummel
March 10, 2021
Name: TJ Hummel
Year: Senior
Position: Sports Editor
Major: Digital Media and Journalism
When I joined the Informer my sophomore year, I was a staff writer, contributing music and movie reviews to the entertainment section. In my junior year, I became the copy chief, and my job was to proofread the articles in every section before they were published. I would have to check for proper grammar, spelling, and more. With my writing ability and passion for sports, I applied for the sports editor position and got the job this year.
I love my job as the Sports Editor. I have such a huge passion for sports, both nationally and right here on campus. My job includes producing and editing the sports section every week with my phenomenal writing staff.
When I’m not doing work for the Informer, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and playing with my dog, Freddie. I’m also a Digital Media and Journalism major, so you can always find me filming or editing some digital content. Sports are also a huge part of my life, and I’m a die-hard Boston Bruins fan.
I was born and raised in Middletown, Connecticut, where I’ve lived my entire life with my parents and my two siblings. After graduation, my goal is to find a job doing behind-the-scenes television production nationwide for any of the sports networks. However, my dream job is to be a part of the production crew for the Boston Bruins and to be working for the New England Sports Network (NESN for short).
I am excited to start my next step after graduation and to take that giant leap forward into the working world.
