Where are the to-go boxes??
February 9, 2022
Apparently, the take out boxes at Commons have disappeared … for good? The dining hall has implemented the re-usable to-go container program once again, but at a cost to students!
To be honest, these containers do not allow space for the food that is actually served. The portion compartments are far too small so it limits how much you can take with you. Therefore, we are either stuck cramming as much as we can in one box, or making multiple trips to Commons throughout the day which isn’t necessarily feasible for those with busy schedules.
Personally, I like to stock up quite a few things to refrigerate for a later date – which I think we can all agree is a common practice around here. You can call it laziness, but I call it strategic. I also don’t necessarily want to sit by myself in Commons to eat when my friends are busy or live off campus.
Now I’m not one to write these articles solely complaining. So, to play devil’s advocate, you could argue that it is better for the environment and trash buildup will probably be reduced on campus. But it certainly is more convenient for students to have the old to-go bins and it leaves less dish washing for the dining staff.
