Hawks Former Star Goalkeeper Makes it to the Big Leagues

Recent Hartford graduate and former star goalkeeper Maia Perez has been invited to train with the Angel City Football Club of the National Women’s Soccer League. Perez will be participating in the team’s upcoming preseason camp. She will be playing alongside star players like USA Women’s legend Christen Press and goalkeeper Brittany Wilson. Her goalkeeping coach during the two-week trial will be Coach Dan Ball. Perez was a three-time America East All-Conference athlete in her decorated career as a Hawk. She spent four seasons racking up accolades and will go down as one of the best goalkeepers to ever wear a Hawks jersey. Her achievements include 32 career wins with 19 shutouts and 273 saves. In the 2021 season, Perez tallied seven shutouts and a save percentage of .859. She also had the America East Conference-best in goals-against average with 0.65. Perez was also a great student in the classroom, where she was a four-time America East Honor Roll member and finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.75. As Perez leaves her name etched in the Hartford Hawks record books, she heads to California, where there is no doubt that she will flourish on the big stage.
