The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders

Kasey Zollo, News Editor

In the society that we live in today, most of us college students have grown up around social media. As good as this for networking, connecting with friends and family while you’re away, etcetera, social media can negatively affect our mental health. From every social media platform, it is easy to fall into a spiral of negative thinking, resulting in various mental illnesses, specifically, eating disorders.

The Counseling and Psychological Service Center has put together an open dialogue on Friday, Feb. 25th, from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. over Zoom to give students a chance to connect with their peers. The conversation will revolve around how social media makes students feel bad about themselves. It will allow students to speak on their story of eating disorders if they feel comfortable. There will also be a body image expert from The Renfrew Center to advise how to stop living for social media and live life for yourself.

This dialogue can give students a safe place to share their stories and connect students to show students that they are not alone.
