Men’s Basketball 2022-23 Season Preview
November 2, 2022
The Hartford Hawks’ season is set to commence in less than two weeks. The first two games will see Hartford play in Chase Arena, home of the Hartford Hawks. The Hawks will welcome their local rival, Sacred Heart University Pioneers, on November 8. They return to action two days later when they take on Northern Vermont University-Lydon. This will be the Hawks’ first season as an independent school following its departure from the America East Conference.
Out of the eight returning players, only Jared Kimbrough started more than half of the Hawks’ games last season. Despite losing some key players from last year’s squad, there are some new additions to the team. The newcomers for Hartford include Lorenzo Washington (IMG Academy), Davon Ellison (Sacred Heart HS), and Henry White (Suffield Academy).
The 28-game slate sees the Hawks play 15 games at Chase Arena. These include matchups against last year’s Elite Eight finalists, St. Peter’s University Peacocks. That game will be played on Tuesday, December 13 at 7 pm. Despite not being in the America East Conference anymore, the Hawks will still face former in-conference rivals, UMass Lowell and UMBC. The Hawks will also welcome Chicago State University, Merrimack College, and Brown University.
