This past Sunday, the Hartford Women’s Basketball team took on the Weber State Wildcats in the search for the Lady Hawks’ first win of the season.

The Hawks got off to a slow start, only scoring 6 points in the first quarter. Hartford would later put up a fight in the second quarter, going shot for shot with Weber. Led by senior guard Irene Primo, the Hawks would cut their first quarter deficit to as low as 7 points before exiting the half down 31-21.

In the second half, Weber would come out firing, scoring 25 points in the third quarter to Hartford’s 9. The Hawks would look to comeback in the fourth quarter from the Weber rally in the third, but Weber would hold on to pick up the victory 71-44 as the Hawks fall to 0-7 on the season.

During the game, Irene Primo dropped an 11-point team-high in points, making 8 free throws and 1 3-point shot as Freshman Zaiha Minnis scored a career-high 10 points coming off the bench to support the senior guard. In addition to this, Elena Houghton would add 9 points and had a career-high 3 blocks during the contest.

The Hawks continue the search for their first win as they head back to Providence to take on the Brown University Bears on December 3rd.
