Hawks Fall Short on Senior Day

This past Saturday was the annual Senior Day celebration for Hartford Men’s Basketball team as they faced off against Chicago State University. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they would go on to lose the game 62-49 inside the Reich Family Arena.

Opening the scoring in the game was Chicago State’s own Jahsean Corbett with a layup that would spark a 13-0 run early in the game. Corbett went on to record his ninth double-double of the season. With 11:19 left on the clock, Chicago State held a 15-3 lead. Both teams hit a dry spell from beyond the arc as Hartford went 1-of-11 and Chicago State went 2-of-11. The Cougars would hold on to their lead going into the half.

After a rough scoring patch for the Hawks, they would use a 7-0 run to cut the lead to single digits. They would then hit back-to-back threes to cut the lead down to five. It was a combined effort for the Hawks to try and cut down the lead. Kurtis Henderson finished with 10 points, Pano Pavlidis finished with 12 points, and Briggs McClain tallied 13 of his own. With just 4:56 on the clock, the game was close at 49-43. That was as close as it got for the rest of the game as the Cougars scoring was too strong, giving them the 13-point win on the road.

Chicago State earned their third-consecutive win to move to 8-17 on the season and the Hawks fall to 5-18 as they enter their final stretch of the season. Make sure to check out hartfordhawks.com for the latest news on all things sports at the University of Hartford.
