Students and faculty are invited to engage in a yearlong series of conversations about “Creating Visibility and Belonging” in the community. The organization strives to foster a more inclusive UHart, where people of all identities may experience a sense of belonging. This series will feature panels of campus community members who will provoke thought and inspire action by sharing how they feel, raising awareness of nuanced experiences, and increasing understanding of the unique needs of each population.
The panel, “Creating Visibility and Belonging for the Black/African American Community,” is being held on Monday, February 20, and Wednesday, February 22, from 12:45- 2 PM in Hillyer Hall’s Shaw Center. Listening and learning are the first steps toward actively engaging in activism. This panel of UHart students will provide insight into what it means to be an activist and how young people can engage in activism to create meaningful change in their communities.
The panel will also highlight the importance of young people taking charge of movements in society with resilience and hard work. The panel moderator will be Kristen Valentine, MLK Student Committee Member. If you have any questions email Jaime Green, at [email protected].
