Lillian Wonderly, Entertainment Editor

The Hartt Theatre Division is performing Pippin, the famous Broadway Musical. There are multiple showtimes in Millard Auditorium: March 2,3,4 from 7:30-10 PM and March 5 from 3-5:30 PM. The original music and lyrics were composed by Stephen Schwartz and the book were written by Roger O. The show is described as a bare stage transformed, by a troupe of traveling players, into a spectacular world of wonder, magic, carnival, commedia, dell’arte, music, and dance!

The time is 780 AD, during the reign of Charlemagne. The show uses the story of Pippin (heir to the throne) to tell the tale of his self-discovery. His journey for fulfillment and a meaningful life takes him through war, family, sex, politics, and immortality. He finally finds contentment with….you’ll have to come to see for yourself. Viewers are warned that the show contains some scenes of an adult nature. In addition, the performance has no intermission. The admission price is $10 and tickets will not be sold at the door. If you are a University of Hartford student, staff, or faculty member you can receive one free ticket.
