Jonny Brodzinski Lights the Lamp Twice in Wolf Pack Win

As the 2022-23 AHL season winds down, the Hartford Wolf Pack traveled to Bridgeport to face off against the Islanders in an Atlantic Division battle. Bridgeport wasted no time as they lit the lamp in the opening minutes of the first period as Cole Bardreau fired a puck past Hartford goaltender Louis Domingue’s blocker. The remainder of the first period was equally played until the final minute as Vincent Sevigny of the Islanders would commit a minor tripping penalty giving the Wolf Pack a powerplay in the last seconds of the first frame.

That penalty would carry over into the second period, and Hartford would capitalize seconds into the second. However, Wolf Pack Captain Jonny Brodzinski would give the Islanders a taste of their own medicine as he scored the equalizing goal 29 seconds into the 2nd period. Zac Jones entered the offensive zone and found Brodzinski in the right-wing circle, who would hammer home the one-timer passed Islanders goalkeeper Jakub Skarek. The Wolf Pack found their game after that as they were firing shots left and right until finally, one passed Skarek, giving the visitors the lead. Hartford would take the lead as the Islanders’ netminder attempted to pass the puck out of the zone until Tim Gettinger intercepted the face. Gettinger would find Ryan Carpenter, who would rip a shot past the Skarek for his 17th goal of the season.

However, the Wolf Pack weren’t done scoring as the captain would again find the back of the net for his 16th goal of the season. The Islanders tried to clear the zone, and the puck found Brodzinski’s stick as he raced into the offensive zone and scored on a partial breakaway. Brodzinski’s second goal would ultimately be the game-winner as Ruslan Ishakov of the Islanders would score 1:58 into the third period cutting the Wolf Pack lead to 3-2. Louis Domingue stood tall for the remainder of the game as the Wolf Pack would win by a final score of 3-2.

This crucial win over Bridgeport allowed the Wolf Pack to gain ground in the standings, as they now sit 1 point behind the Islanders for a playoff spot. Hartford returns to action at the XL Center on Friday for a battle against the Springfield Thunderbird
