Top Five Finish for Amari in Battle at Rum Pointe

Hartford Hawks Men’s Golf was down in Berlin, Maryland this past weekend for the Battle of Rum Pointe. Out of the 17-team playing field, the Hawks combined to finish in 11th place overall. With the team finishing in 11th, junior Michael Amari was the top finisher for the team, ending the weekend third overall out of 100 golfers. Marcus Lim of Sacred Heart took home the individual title as he finished with a final score of 9 under through 36 holes. It was Long Island University that took home the team title with a combined final score of 561.

 

Amari was on fire for the Hawks, finishing as the only Hartford golfer under par for the entire tournament. The Townsend, Massachusetts native finished with a final score of 6 under par over two rounds, only three back of the lead. After tallying an eagle, five birdies, and two bogies in the first round, Amari was tied for the top position. In round two, he finished with three birdies and two bogeys for a final-day score of 1-under 71 to cap off a strong weekend performance.

 

The next closest Hartford golfer was Conor Byrne. Byrne finished tied for 58th with a nine-over 81. He finished the opening round with a score of 2-over 74 and the second day with a 7-over 79. Manuel Romero, Kyle St. Pierre, and Bryce Zimmerman were the next three golfers to finish for the Hawks. They all finished with an 11-over 83.

 

The Hawks will return to the golf course again on April 3rd and 4th for the Southern Invitational in Lake Worth, Florida.
