After securing their first victory of the season on October 3rd against Mount St. Vincent, the Men’s Soccer squad from the University of Hartford proceeded to encounter a defeat at the hands of Eastern Connecticut State, followed by a deadlock against the University of New England. Their subsequent showdown transpired on October 10th, taking place on their home turf in West Hartford, pitted against Curry College.
The initial half of the game mirrored the earlier ones in its lack of scoring action. It wasn’t until the clock had ticked just past the 81st minute that the Senior midfielder, Trey Sadler, netted the first and sole goal in the entire contest, marking Sadler’s second goal of the season. A mere nine minutes later, the final whistle blew in the 90th minute, signaling the University of Hartford’s attainment of their second triumph of the season.
In this intense clash between the two teams, Curry College outshot Hartford, boasting an 18-11 lead in attempts. However, the key distinction lay in the precision of these strikes, with only five on target for Curry, as opposed to Hartford’s eight on-target shots. The freshman goalkeeper, Ryan Lunn, delivered an impressive performance with four crucial saves, collaborating with the defense to secure a shutout against Curry.
Following that victory, the squad lost its next two games, being shut out in all of them, against Trinity and Endicott. There are now four games left in the season, and the team’s record is 2-6-2. Three of them are scheduled for this week, with games against Wentworth Institute of Technology on October 18, Nichols College at home on October 21, and Framingham State at home on October 22.
