The Hartford Hawks women’s soccer team’s winning run now stands at six games after victories over Curry College and Endicott College. At Al-Marzook Field in Alumni Stadium, the Hawks defeated Curry 5-1, completely dominating the contest. Imani Jenkins, who scored three goals for Hartford and provided an assist to Christina Stone’s goal, was the game’s MVP for the Hawks. Hartford made a significant attacking drive, as seen by their 16 shots on goal compared to Curry College’s four. A rather easy victory as they earned victory number 9. The Hawks defeated Endicott 3-0 on the road at Hempstead Stadium to earn their tenth victory. Hartford’s defense was the bright spot, as the team allowed no goals to complete the shutout. Kathleen Brush, Imani Jenkins, and Rebecca Opdenbrouw all scored and took advantage of their critical opportunities.
“It was a great win against a very good conference opponent,” said Hartford Head Women’s Soccer Coach John Natale. “[With] three goals and a couple of missed opportunities, I thought we created a lot of good chances. But, our execution needs to be a little better in the final third. Defensively, we kept a clean sheet against a very aggressive team. This game is a great gauge for us to see where we will align in the conference in the coming future.”
With a season record of 10-2, the squad is now ranked 24th nationwide in the United Soccer Coaches poll. With two games this week, the first on October 18 against Wentworth Institute of Technology and the second on October 21 against Nichols College, they hope to extend their winning streak even further.
