The Hartford Wolf Pack won their first two games of the first homestand of the season, remaining undefeated as a result. Hartford starts the season 4-0 after winning on the road against the Providence Bruins and Springfield Thunderbirds.
On October 20, the Wolf Pack defeated the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins 5-0 to win the home opener at the XL Center. In a heated first session with numerous fights between the division rivals, neither team scored to start the game. First to start fighting were Connor Mackey and Corey Andonovski, then Brennan Othmann and Taylor Fedun. During the second period, everything changed. Brett Berard’s first career goal gave the Wolf Pack the lead. After that, Jonny Brodzinski scored for Hartford to increase their advantage. The Wolf Pack increased their lead throughout the third period. Hartford finished the game with five goals, including goals from Riley Nash, Connor Mackey, and Adam Edström. Goaltender Louis Domingue recorded 35 saves in the game as he pitched his fifth career Wolf Pack shutout.
The following night, Hartford defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 5-1 to earn their 1,000th victory in the team’s history. Early in the first quarter, goals from Berard and Alex Belzile gave the Wolf Pack the lead. With three goals from Nikolas Brouillard, Bobby Trivigno, and Brodzinski in the third period after being shut out in the second, Hartford roared back to win. The Wolf Pack’s following game is against the Thunderbirds at home on October 27th.
