The University of Hartford’s Men’s soccer team had a busy schedule this past week, playing three games in only five days. The team handled the overwhelming workload that was placed on them, winning two of the three games and getting closer to an even record. The squad visited Wentworth Institute of Technology on October 18 and defeated them 3-0. With help from Nate Becher, Nichola Castrovinci scored his first goal of the year in the 24th minute to start the scoring. Sam Dridi made it 2-0 in the 60th minute with his first goal of the year. In the 79th minute, Becher added a goal of his own to make the score 3-0 for the Hawks. The season’s second goal was scored by Becher. Ryan Lunn was flawless in goal, stopping all three attempts.
The team returned to Hartford on October 21 to play Nichols College for Senior Day, winning 4-2 and beginning a winning run. Hartford took an early lead as senior Nate Becher scored his third and fourth goals of the year in the first twenty-two minutes. Alex Quinones, a senior, scored Hartford’s third goal of the half and his fourth goal of the year after Nichols had cut the deficit in half with a penalty kick. In the 86th minute, Kellijah Morgan scored his first goal of the year to put the game out of reach.
The following day, when they faced Framingham State University at home once more, the Hawks sought to make it three wins in a row. Unfortunately, Framingham triumphed by a score of 3-0, putting a stop to the streak. The opening thirty minutes of play saw the Rams score all three goals, and they never looked back.
As of this Tuesday, October 24, when the squad plays its final game of the season at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium in West Hartford, the men’s soccer team’s record is at 4-7-2.
