After victories over Wentworth Institute of Technology on October 18 and Nichols College on October 21, the Hartford Hawks women’s soccer team’s winning streak now stands at eight games. The Hawks destroyed Wentworth on the road at Sweeney Field by recording a shutout with a score of 7-0. Imani Jenkins scored two goals, her 18th and 19th of the season, to help her team win. In addition to participating and scoring goals of their own were Christina Stone, Kathleen Brush, Lindsey Metcalfe, Ishani Sharma, and May Cervone. Hartford’s 11th victory came after a strong performance.
On senior day, the Hawks defeated the Nichols 8-0 at Al-Marzook Field in Alumni Stadium to record another shutout. Imani Jenkins added two more goals for the Hawks, bringing her season total to 21 and surpassing her previous personal best. For Hartford, Mayson Massaro added two goals, and the defense continued to shut down the opposition’s offenses as the Hawks picked up victory number twelve.
“I thought it was a great game on senior day for us,” said Hartford Head Women’s Soccer Coach John Natale. “It was a day where the seniors had a lot of goals and assists. I couldn’t be more happy for them.”
The team now holds the 25th place national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll with a record of 12-2. Hartford seeks to continue their winning streak as the regular season comes to a close with two games this week, the first on October 24th against Western New England University and the second on October 25th against the University of Southern Maine.
