The Hartford Hawks women’s volleyball team went 1-1 over their past two games. The Hawks defeated Suffolk University 3-0 in the first game played at the Hartford Volleyball Gym, their home court. Jenna and Jordan Murphy, the freshmen twins, were crucial to Hartford’s triumph. Jordan Murphy and sophomore Isabella Labrada tied for the team lead with nine kills, while Jenna Murphy led the team with six blocks. With eight kills, rookie Zahara Quraishi also contributed as the Hawks prevailed in their fourth game of the year.
In the second game, Hartford was not as fortunate, as they lost 3-0 at Tansey Gymnasium on the road to Wentworth Institute of Technology. The formidable Wentworth offensive approach provided the Hawks with no answers, and they were unable to establish any consistency. Harford had trouble stopping the ball; during the defeat, he managed just 0 blocks. With nine kills and eleven points, WIT freshman Savannah Morford led the squad and contributed to the Leopards’ triumph. Kylee Connally, a sophomore with the Hawks, extended her record of double-digit assists to 13 games on the Hartford side with 14 assists. With ten digs, she has three double-doubles thus far this season. Sydney Ball, a sophomore, led the team in kills with six out of twelve attempts, and Quraishi added five more. The Hawks look to get back in the win column this week, with matches set for November 1st against Curry College and November 4th against Roger Williams University.
