The Hartford Hawks women’s volleyball team concluded their season with a 2-2 record in their final four games. The Hawks defeated Curry College 3-0 on November 1st at the Hartford Volleyball Gym, their home court. Freshman Zahara Quraishi, who tallied 15 kills, 5 aces, and 3 blocks to help the Hawks win their fifth game of the season, was a key player in Hartford’s triumph. On November 4, Hartford defeated Roger Williams University 3-2 at home to record their sixth victory of the season. Isabella Labrada, a sophomore, contributed significantly to the Hawks with 16 kills and 7 blocks. Quraishi added her own 13 kills to Hartford’s total.
After these two victories, the Hawks did not fare as well, losing their next two road games at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center versus Chicago State University. Chicago State prevailed 3-0 in both games to terminate them. The Hawks first ran into difficulties on November 11th when facing the Cougars’ powerful hitters. For Chicago State to record a victory, senior Yanlis Feliz recorded 13 kills, while senior Mesalina Severino recorded 8 kills. In Hartford’s defeat, Quraishi recorded seven kills. The Cougars’ offense proved to be too much for the Hawks to handle in the ensuing game the following day. In order to assist her team in winning consecutive games, Chicago State freshman Patrycja Lagida recorded 14 kills. The Hartford Hawks Volleyball team finished their season with a final record of 6-11.
