This past Saturday, Curry College was defeated by the University of Hartford women’s basketball team, 68-62. Hartford finished the first half with a 42–17 advantage over Curry, capping a 28–point second quarter. Even though Curry’s offense picked up some steam in the second half, it was insufficient to overcome Hartford’s significant first-half lead.
Ella Marchesani and Adrianna McCoy lead the way in scoring with 15 and 16 points, respectively. On defense, they each recorded five steals. With nine rebounds, Ava Naszimento dominated the paint. Hartford made 21 of 55 total field goals, including six three-pointers. Every player from Hartford scored a point thanks to the team’s 21 defensive thefts, which resulted in 35 points off of turnovers.
The Hawks get their record up to 10-12 and have two games this week, one today, February 12th, at Western New England and Saturday, February 17th, vs University of New England at the Chase Arena in West Hartford.
