The University of Hartford baseball team played four games this past week, winning only one of them and losing the other three. The team’s record currently sits at 4-14-1.
On April 2nd, the team lost to Western New England University by a score of 10-2. On April 6th, in a doubleheader against Wentworth Institute of Technology, the Hawks lost game one by a score of 5-4.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Hartford would win by a score of 3-2. With the score tied at 2-2 in the 7th, Alyis Godbee scored on a wild pitch to give the Hawks the lead. Alek Popovich and Jackson Ciccone led the team with two hits each, while Jake Santiago had both of the team’s RBIs. The team also had six stolen bases. Luke Rier pitched six innings, allowing only one earned run, and struck out five. Michael Featherstone struck out three in an inning and a third in relief to get the save.
On April 7th, the team would go on to lose to Eastern Nazarene College by a score of 15-8 to finish up the week.
The baseball team has five more games this week. The first is on April 9th vs Babson College. The second is on April 11th at Mitchell College. The third and fourth are in an April 13 doubleheader vs. Gordon College and the fifth and final one is coming on April 14th against Eastern Connecticut State.
