PDR night, or Private Dining Reservation night, is a dining service offered by the University of Hartford a few times every semester. These events are usually held at 5PM on Thursdays in the 1877 Club, located by the Harrison Libraries.
The dinners come at a premium, only offered a handful of times a year, and on a first-come, first-serve basis. When they do finally come around, everyone in attendance is sure to enjoy themselves during a lovely evening of top-notch dishes and upscale ambiance.
“The experience sounds incredible, but where can I get tickets to PDR night?” is what you are probably thinking if you have yet to attend a PDR night. The simplest and most common way is to follow the university’s dining services Instagram account, @uhartdining. From there, they will post three major updates. The first post is the menu. It is a fixed-price (that price being one meal swipe) menu with three courses and generally 2-5 options per course. The second post will be the one that tells you to be on the lookout, as tickets will soon become available. The third post will let you know that the tickets have gone live and are up for grabs. To get yours, all you have to do is click the link in their Instagram bio, select PDR night, and make your reservation. Reservations can be made for two to six people, so bring your friends!
Even though I appreciate our daily food options on campus, they can become a little monotonous at times. The amount of Subway I’ve eaten could hibernate a bear for five winters. But these PDR nights offer a temporary taste of elegance that I would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. For the convenience and the quality, it can’t be beat. I attended the most recent PDR night where I was treated to steak crostini, seared scallops, and a chocolate raspberry mousse for dessert. Simply put, it was *chef’s kiss*.
