The ALCL Orphanage invites one and all to be a part of their greatest fundraiser, “Feed the Future,” an evening dedicated to fostering and nourishing the lives of the children in our care and the surrounding community. It will take place on October 19, 2024, at Orchid Hospitality Hamden, CT, with a series of activities, presentations, and opportunities for our supporters to take part in our mission.
Why This Matters: The past couple of years have been some of the most challenging times for The ALCL Orphanage. A pandemic called COVID-19, high food prices, and an inflationary Liberian economy have stretched the resources that go toward the care of the children, orphans, widows, and most vulnerable people we serve. These challenges make our mission more critical than ever: “Feed the Future” is not only a fundraiser but a lifeline to those who need it most.
Our Mission: The mission of the ALCL Orphanage is to serve the poor, orphaned, disadvantaged, and vulnerable children within Liberia and beyond. This is an attempt to eradicate the hopelessness promoted through war, disease, and poverty that has burdened this nation and its people. Providing a safe, nurturing environment, we offer hope, guidance, and support to the ones in need.
The Orphanage: Similarly, ALCL Orphanage is set up to be a haven for the many children orphaned by that time, further down the hill from the mass grave site of the victims of the 2014 Ebola outbreak on Disco Hill. It is a sad incident that shocked the world, but our commitment to these children and others like them remains very strong to date, as we extend continuous care along with facilities they ought to receive in order for them to live a life full of promise.
