In the Fall of 2022, students at The Barney School of Business launched the Career Closet. The idea behind the closet was to give students easy access to professional attire. Through the generous donations of alumni and community members, there was an impressive collection to choose from. At the time, you could rent items for 14 days or purchase them for highly discounted prices. This program was a game-changer for any student who found themselves needing a classy new outfit before their next job interview, networking event, or award ceremony.
As of 2023, the closet now exists in room 200B on the main floor of GSU. When the closet first opened, it was a huge success. Since then, it has rapidly grown both in size and in quality. Nowadays, it is much less of a closet, and much more of a fun-sized store.
Now in 2024, the new-and-improved Career Closet features full-length mirrors, a fitting room, and more clothing items than ever, most of them brand new. The greatest part: you get to keep the items, 100% for free, no strings attached. Any student can visit the closet and choose five items per semester that they want to introduce into their own wardrobe permanently. Do you need a fancy new suit and tie? They have hundreds of items to choose from. Are you looking for an elegant dress and heels to match? Then don’t walk, run to the Career Closet today!
