In today’s society, education no longer acts as a form of civilization. It serves as the primary reason for an individual to be employed. With the portrayal of today’s media and pop culture, young individuals like ourselves tend to place our minds to topics that we personally believe are significant, such as money and power. Thus, we began putting ourselves in limbo, leading to feelings of frustration. Such feelings make us begin unproductively questioning by counting down the days until the arrival of our reward for our hard work or the arrival of the personal achievement that we have sought since the beginning. Personal achievement is significant; however, our selfishness distorts us, neglecting that it often comes as a reward by contributing to our community. Whether it’s educating, financing, engineering, or arts performing, there is a need to realize our importance to our community and our way of contributing to it.
The underlying reason for such a matter comes from our intention. Our intention became pessimistic. Our intention no longer provides optimism to the community. Instead, we seek personal gain from it, and when we fail, we blame. With that, the pessimistic cycle revolves over and over again, ultimately leading to complete failure.
As a student in the 21st century, it is undeniable that the information we consume each day is extreme. It affects our mentality, building obstacles for us to be productive. We find it challenging and difficult to pursue our education as it does not align with the values that we believed in at that time. But what if it matters? What if your existence in this world relies on your knowledge, and that your knowledge being utilized could make the world a better place? Sadly, we tend to think too little of ourselves to not recognize the effect we have to this world we live in.
Such curiosity also allows you to take the effort and find out what you are made of. But most remarkably, who you truly are. When an individual is aware of their identity, they could begin putting in the effort on self-reflecting, putting more awareness in the way how they represent themselves. When we truly understand the efforts of such progress, we would also give more respect to others, as we know how much it takes for a person to be great. Ultimately, it not only makes us more relatable to others, it makes us more empathetic of others too.
One of the ways to have a great reason in our lives is to embrace ourselves. Understanding that education does not solely rely on the academics we seek currently but could also be a conversation with individuals who have experienced tremendous life lessons could be something that we could learn from too. Additionally, making great connections with other individuals allow ourselves to feel more relatable and understanding within our community. When relationships are built based on communication, our level of empathy increases, allowing us to understand the purpose of living as well as the significance of certain qualities, such as humility and purpose.
Reason does not necessarily have to be complex or specific. It could be straightforward, just as long as it is filled with passion for your way of life. With such passion, it gives us a reason to be righteous. When we are righteous, we eventually will view our world more positively. A positive mentality leads to greater contentment in our lives.
