In my personal experience, I like to believe that each of us has experienced something negative in our lives, or times when we feel our life has no colors, only black and white. Whether you experienced them during high school or early childhood, you have persevered through them in some ways.
In life, there are often complicated situations that we are required to handle. Whether we are capable or not during that time, we are still needed to face them. With the exposure that we receive to how we perceive things, we tend to simplify each matter to make our lives easier. We think certain things are made out a certain way without questioning them; we purchase a certain item just because it is useful. Similarly, we handle certain situations just to get rid of them as soon as possible. In short, we sometimes act without having the time to consider the underlying reasons for our decisions.
When we try to understand certain matters in specific detail, we would tend to realize that each situation that has occurred to us contains a lesson. Every single matter, including negative situations, is nothing but a blessing in disguise. However, it is a form of encouragement to remind ourselves that we could benefit something from it.
A friend of mine once told me that without the dark, you could never see the stars shine. To him, the dark represents the experiences that we have had as individuals, and the stars represent our achievements. What matters the most is the experiences, achievements, and the combination of both. Our achievements are great; however, it is the experience that made the achievements worthy to be mentioned, just like how the stars shine so brightly in the dark.
In our daily life, sometimes it is necessary to take a step back, think of the things that we hold dear, and understand the underlying reasons we hold so tightly to those things. Take some time and self-reflect on the things that we have experienced and how exactly we persevered through those situations. When we self-reflect, we can potentially look at certain perceptions that could expose us to newer ideas in our current daily events or realizing the mistakes we have made, ultimately giving us a lesson on what to avoid in the future.
Believe that there is always light in dark; that a negative situation always contains something that we could learn from.
