The Sports Section at the Informer is back! We are excited to be back to bring you your weekly scoop of UHart athletics. A lot has happened in the beginning half of the fall season, and it is our job to catch you up.
Women’s Soccer:
The Women’s Soccer Team is off to an 8-3-2 start on the season, with their only losses coming to Suffolk, Western New England, and Johnson & Wales. With 4 regular season games left in the season, they look to close out another successful season and begin their quest for another CNE Championship. Rebecca Opdenbrouw leads the Hawks with 19 points in the season, followed closely by Anastasia Nerny in close second place with 18 points.
Men’s Soccer:
The Men’s Soccer Team currently sits at 7-5-2 with a 3-3-1 record in the Conference of New England. As their season winds down, they are left with 3 regular-season games against Nichols College, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Curry College. These final 3 games will be crucial to the men’s push towards the CNE playoffs, as they currently sit 7th in the conference.
Field Hockey:
The inaugural season of the Hartford Field Hockey Team has been a year full of ups and downs, which began with an exciting 6-0 win over Elms College. This game was followed by wins over Albertus Magnus and Manhattanville University. Since then, the team has been faced with 6 conference losses, most with heavy goal differences. Though their season has not shown the brightest spots quite yet, sitting at a 3-10 record, there is both promise and excitement for the future of the program.
