CT GOP faces backlash for hosting James O’Keefe

The invitation of the controversial conservative activist James O’Keefe to a Conservative GOP fundraiser event has sparked uproar and persiflage among Connecticut Democrats.

Nancy Wyman, the state Democratic chairwoman, commented about O’Keefe’s staged encounters that were secretly recorded and intentionally edited in the ill intent of soiling reputations despite hypocritically complaining about fake news.

O’Keefe’s bad reputation began in 2009 when he created Project Veritas and released undercover videos of workers at ACORN offices during Obama’s presidency.

Although the workers were not involved in any illegal activity as ruled by the California attorney general, the widely shown videos still generated controversy. O’Keefe’s Wikipedia biography describes him as someone who “produces secretly recorded undercover audio and video encounters with figures and workers in academic, governmental, and social service organizations, purporting to show abusive or allegedly illegal behavior by employees and/or representatives of those organizations”.

Nancy Wyman also made the statement directed at J.R. Romano claiming that he “can and should do better” in regards to the Republicans’ approach in raising money.

However, this claim did not go under Romano’s radar and responded with a strong reaction stating Wyman should instead be condemning O’Keefe on his sexist, over-the-top comments about New Britain Democrat council candidate Erin.
