Are you a student who is interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry? Are you looking for opportunities that are difficult to find? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there is a brand-new club that would be a great fit for you.

Just about two weeks ago, the University of Hartford had launched its first ever Sports Business Association. The club was founded by junior marketing major, Khalia Whyte, who is also the President of the Sports Business Association. Whyte wants a club where students will feel comfortable being a part of any major to get together and discuss different careers that students can get in the sports industry.

I had a chance to talk to Ms. Whyte, to find out more information on how she decided to bring this club to UHart. “I was tapping through Instagram stories one day and saw a similar club at UCLA that was promoting guest speakers, I looked through their page and was like wow this would be pretty cool to have at UHart and I felt like it would benefit a lot of people so I said why not bring it here.” Whyte also wants students to learn that there is a lot more in the sports industry that meets the eye and that with the right skills, everyone can gain an opportunity within their chosen field.

What is great about the sports industry in today’s world, is that there are so many different opportunities in the field, for just about any major. The club will also work to bring in different guest speakers who have a background in the sports industry, and they will talk about how they got to where they are today.

How will students benefit from being a part of SBA? Whyte said, “Students will be able to receive real world experiences, hear from their professionals in their future career, enhance their network abilities and step out of their comfort zones with SBA. We want to make sure that every student can say that the club helped them in some way by the time they graduate.”

If you are looking to excel your resume, have an interest in sports, and to build your profile by the time you graduate, then this is the club for you. The University of Hartford Sports Business Association is welcoming all new members at this time.
