The past 24 hours for the United States have been very stressful due to the presidential election. Democratic Vice President Joe Biden has been in the lead since the beginning over President Donald Trump. As of right now, many people are predicting that Joe Biden will win since he is in the lead for electoral votes. At 8:47 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Biden was 6 electoral votes away from winning 270 and Trump is losing by 56 votes. Depending on the results of the battleground states this could be a tight race.

One of the big battleground states that people are looking at right now is Georgia. Since midnight this morning, the Trump lead has shrunk from 372,000 to 39,000. The huge lead shrunk after poll workers started counting all of the absentee ballots in Georgia. One of the cities that helped shrink this lead for Atlanta. Biden had a majority of the absentee ballot votes for the state of Georgia which helped him a lot. If Georgia turns blue this will be the first time this has happened since 1992.

Pennsylvania has been another state that has had a huge impact on this election. President Donald Trump has had the majority of the votes for the election in Pennsylvania but the gap between the candidates is slowly shrinking as the absentee ballots are being counted. Absentee Ballots have been helping Joe Biden a lot since President Donald Trump told his supporters to not vote by mail for this election. Pennsylvania has over 2.6 million mail-in ballots and this is ten times more than any other election year for the state. Unlike Trump, Biden’s Campaign encouraged supporters to vote by mail or early in-person which helped Biden gain more mail-in votes.

Since President Donald Trump is mad that Joe Biden is currently leading, he is trying to sue the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia for saying they are adding unnecessary votes in favor of Biden. Many people believe Trump is doing this because he is afraid of losing to Biden in these swing states and he could eventually bring the election to the supreme court. He said this has been major fraud for the nation and that is why he wants to go to the supreme court. Trump has also been falsely claiming that he has won this election when all of the votes have not been counted yet.

In the next 24 hours, we hopefully will find the results of the 2020 presidential election but as of right now it is a pretty close race.
