Much like the past UFC event, Fight Night Rozenstruik Vs. Gane had big implications for the Heavyweight Division. The main event saw 5th ranked Rozenstruik take on 7th ranked Gane in a five-round fight. Gane started the first round with good movement dipping in and out of the pocket to throw leg kicks and jabs where Rozenstruik had a more stationary movement waiting for Gane to over-commit and counter with big strikes. Early on it was Cleary that this fight was going to end with Gane picking apart Rozenstruik or Gane getting caught by a great counter which Rozenstruik is known for like his 5th round knockout of Overeem that came in the final seconds of that bout after he lost the previous four rounds to points.

The First round continued to play out as a feeling-out process with Gane being the more active fighter and winning the round. Round Two started the same as Round One which saw Gane continue his plan of great foot movement and just dipping in and out for strikes to touch up Rozenstruik and was another round win for Gane. The next 3 rounds moved slower than the first two as the pace had dropped, and although not much action happened the remainder of the fight was identical to the first two rounds seeing Gane pick apart his opponent and avoid counter shots. This led to a 50-45 scorecard win for Gane, extending his undefeated streak to 8-0 and placing him on a new heavyweight rank of 4th just behind last week’s main eventers Blades and Lewis.

The Next fight that makes sense for Gane is probably a fight with Lewis with the winner fighting the winner of Miocic and Ngannou for the title or after Jon Jones gets his expected Heavyweight title shot in his heavyweight debut. The Co-main event featured Krylov Vs. Ankalaev and was a decisive win for Ankalaev who becomes 15-1 and showing his lightweight contender ship. De la Rosa Vs. Silva ended in a draw due to a first-round point deduction for Silva who grabbed the fence first round to avoid a takedown.

Munhoz Vs Rivera ended in a decision win for Munhoz, a fight he won just using Calf kicks perfectly to damage his opponent’s leg and set him up for great positions to dominate striking. Caceres Vs Croom also ended in the decision seeing Caceres get a 3 round shutout win dominating doing everything right except finding a finish. This card saw many matchups that led to shutouts where the winner just could not find the finish. Although this was a fight night that would have been more enjoyed by die-hard MMA fans instead of casuals, next week’s PPV promised an action-packed card.

UFC 259 features many finishers with powerhouses like Blachowicz and Santos along with great wrestlers and submission artists in Rakic, Sterling, and Makhachev. Not to mention the amazing technical fighters of Nunes and Adesanya who both seem to be unstoppable in their current form. UFC is a must-see event for any UFC fan and a great place to start watching MMA where you get to see 3 title fights in one night, something that only happens once or twice a year.
