As the month of March draws to a close, opens up a new month where baseball games will actually matter now. The MLB is set to begin their regular season tomorrow, April 1st. The last spring training games were wrapped up last night while teams set their opening day rosters to take the big stage tomorrow.

Most teams are already prepared for tomorrow, but for some teams, there are answers and decisions that still need to be made. There will be some new faces that will make their debuts tomorrow, while also there will be long-time veterans preparing for the end of their careers. Let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing news just one day before Opening Day.

One intriguing move that was made was for the Chicago White Sox to select the contract of their best prospect, Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn had a chance to showcase his skills during Spring Training, proving that he is ready to compete at the Major League Level. Vaughn was selected in the 1st Round of the 2019 MLB Draft. With the injury of LF Eloy Jimenez, this should give Vaughn an opportunity to play some outfield for the White Sox.

Another discussion that has been on everyone’s social media feels is if the Mets will extend SS Francisco Lindor. Lindor was acquired over the offseason from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for 4 players. Lindor is looking for a lot of money for over 12 years, while the offer that was made by owner Steve Cohen was for 10 years, up to $325 million. A deal could still be reached within the next few days, but Mets fans will pray for a contract extension announcement to be made.

As extension talks continue, the Houston Astros are also looking to extend SS Carlos Correa. He is also set to enter free agency at the end of the 2021 season, so Houston looks to lock him up within these next few weeks. Their general manager is confident that he will be able to talk Correa into signing with the team within the next coming days. If he does not sign, there will be plenty of options that they can turn to with a heavy shortstop free-agent class.

One surprise that occurred just last night, was a long-time MLB veteran attempting a comeback. Adrian Gonzalez has signed to play in the Mexican League for the 2021 season. Gonzalez, 39, is looking to play for Team Mexico during the 2021 Olympic Games. He last played in 2018 with the New York Mets organization. He added on about the Olympics saying, “like the grand slam of representing Mexico. That is the only reason I have not retired yet.”

Now the question becomes when does your team play tomorrow? The New York Yankees are set to face the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 pm. Fenway Park will have fans tomorrow, as the Boston Red Sox will face the Baltimore Orioles at 2:10 pm. At 7:09 pm, the New York Mets will be set to face the Washington Nationals at our nation’s capitol. Which game will you be watching tomorrow?
