“Snowmageddon” 2022

“Snowmageddon” 2022

Personally, I do not like winter. It tends to be the most depressing time of the year. And finally as of last weekend, we got the widely anticipated snow storm of the year.

Meteorologists made it seem like we were going to get multiple feet of snow and were thankfully wrong. Nonetheless, the storm still locked a lot of us inside where some areas lost power, and left us with a big mess to deal with after the fact.

At UHart specifically, there is a lot of snow that was left to freeze over, limiting walking areas, parking, and leaving students a hazard for slipping and falling. There is noticeable salt on some of the more high trafficked paths on the academic side of campus, along with the bridge connecting to the residential side. However, not much was done to clear pathways or stairways into the upperclassmen housing.

I know I have had my fair share of accidents trying to get groceries from Konover or visiting friends. The unshoveled stairs really get me! So, I think it would be in the school’s best interest to reevaluate their snow removal routine at least for future storms to prevent any students from getting hurt.
