1. “Only the Ball Was White”: The Negro Leagues and Their Place in American History

When: February 2, 9, 16 7:00pm-8:15pm

Where: Via zoom

Why: To learn about the history of Black players in the sport of Baseball.

 

2. Annual MLK JR Observance

When: Tuesday February 8 12:45pm-1:45pm

Where: Via zoom

Why: Attend this observance to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr

Learn more about the term of a Beloved Community and how it was incorporated with in scholars of civil rights work and a correspondent.

 

3. King to Mandela: The Global Vocabulary of Global Liberation

When: Monday February 21 12:45pm-1:45pm

Where: Via zoom

Why: To learn about the historical backgrounds of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. To differentiate the work of civil rights icons in a lecture format.

 

4. The Georgette and Richard Koopman Distinguished Chair in the Visual Arts Exhibition presents illustrations by Floyd Cooper

When: February 24, 2022- March 26,2022

Where: Joseloff Gallery, University of Hartford campus

Why: To look at the artwork of Floyd Cooper in a gallery format.

 

5. Activism Through Action: Beyond the Hashtag!

When: Friday February 18 12:45pm-1:45pm

Where: Via zoom

Why: To learn about the story of Zyahna Bryant, an activist. Most importantly, learn how to be an activist beyond a social media hashtag.
