Dramatis Personae is the University of Hartford’s only drama club on campus. They meet on Mondays at 1 pm in the Auerbach Auditorium room H125. This weekend on February 18th and 19th, the Dramatis Personae club is proudly presenting their annual production of Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. The club had auditions on December 5th, which were open to anyone who identified as a woman or was assigned female at birth.
The show is entirely student-produced and directed. Eve Ensler wrote the monologues in 1996 after interviewing hundreds of women with diverse origins, ethnicities, ages, sexual experiences, and interpretations. The play tells vaginal stories and facts from the perspectives of these women- all from different backgrounds. Some monologues are based on personal testimonials, while others are thematically driven.
Tickets are eight dollars for students and twelve dollars for non-students. All the proceeds will go to My Sisters’ Place, a shelter that supports and empowers survivors of domestic violence. The show will be performed in the Auerbach Auditorium room H125 at 8 pm on both Friday and Saturday.
