The Mailroom Heartache

There is no greater sorrow than walking through the back door of GSU to discover the longest line possible to the mailroom. I have seen it out the door and down the walkway at one point during my time at the University! It is already tricky enough to figure out when to make an appearance over there to grab your packages in between classes, so standing in line for twenty-five minutes is not convenient.

Of course, with the pandemic, every workplace is short-staffed. So, it is unfair to complain about how it is run, but I think there are ways that the mailroom can be improved for efficiency in general. Considering that the dining hall is open on the weekends, the mailroom could at least be open on Saturdays, even for limited hours. I think that specifically would help with traffic flow during the week in the mail area.

If that isn’t possible, I would suggest extending the hours during the weekdays so that not everyone is mobbing the mail area at once. Generally, I think many students would agree that just with some simple adjustments, picking up your packages would cause less of a headache.
