The Hartford Men’s Golf team will continue their season as they head to North Bend, Oregon, for the Bandon Dunes Championship. This is the second time the Hawks head out west this season, as they were in Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate in late February, where they finished in 17th place. The Hawks are set to hit the links on the Sheep Ranch Course at Bandon Dunes for a three-day, 54-hole event. Other big school names making appearances at the tournament include Air Force, Army, Boston College, Oregon, and Utah.
In the Spring season opener, Jared Winiarz led the Hawks. Jared Winiarz finished in 31st place with a total score of 216 over three rounds. Three of Hartford’s golfers went on to finish in the top 100 for the tournament. The last time the Hawks made an appearance at the Bandon Dunes Championship, they tied for 10th back in 2015. They were only able to complete two rounds as the third round was canceled due to inclement weather. Former Hawks Wally Gonzalez and Dan Yustin both finished at two-over-par, tying for 23rd overall. The Hawks will look to improve from their last time out.
Following the Bandon Dunes Championship, the Men’s Golf team will return to Hartford to host the Hartford Blackledge Invitational at Blackledge Country Club on March 28. This tournament will feature individuals only, rather than team play.
