Dont Go Deaf Day 2023! - Acoustical Society of America

Do you want to see how well you hear? Do you listen to music relatively quietly, or loud enough to damage your ears? Don’t know? Well, you’ll find that out at our Don’t Go Deaf Day! Come join UHart students at the GSU vendor tables on Wednesday, April 5 from 11 AM–1:30 PM.

Don’t Go Deaf Day is an annual hearing-loss awareness day run by our Acoustical Society of America, University of Hartford Student Chapter. Free hearing tests will be performed in a separate room, alongside a state-of-the-art sound level meter to see how loud you listen to your music. Just plug in your headphones or earphones to our dummy and check our sound level meter recording.

The Acoustical Engineering and Music program provides students the opportunity to blend a passion for music with an interest in engineering. On Oct. 21, a group of students from the UHart chapter of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), visited Bose headquarters in Massachusetts! Students witnessed demonstrations of consumer products and car audio systems, toured various facilities on the Framingham campus, and reconnected with several alumni of the acoustics program that now work for Bose.
