Have you been itching to show more team spirit around the school? Then keep reading, because this article is for you!
You can be Howie the Hawk! Howie has been an exciting part of the University of Hartford’s athletic history, having been our mascot for 64 seasons as a spirit leader and a goodwill ambassador. If you don’t already know who he is, he can be seen at basketball games for his usual, well-known antics on the court. His name can be attributed to Howie Kassman, who wore the costume proudly from 1985 to 1990.
How can someone be Howie the Hawk? Luckily enough, tryouts for the beloved mascot will be taking place on Friday, April 19th to find the University’s next Howie performer. Hartford Athletics is looking to hire someone for the position in the upcoming year. This individual will not only get to represent the school as everyone’s treasured mascot but will also be paid Connecticut’s minimum wage by the hour. The athletic events are typically a three-hour commitment. Candidates must be able to work evenings, weekends, and at times during the week that don’t interfere with class.
