As an alumnus of Howard University, Joshua Heron is excited to announce his return to his alma mater after completing his master’s degree at Arizona State University. For the next three years, he will be working full-time with Campus Outreach, a non-profit campus ministry focused on developing young Black men into leaders who will make a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond. College is a prime time for students to explore their beliefs, and Joshua wants to be a pit stop where they can hear about the Christian faith. As Joshua says, “I want to do life with them, love them well, listen to them, help them process their brokenness, and bear their burdens. A lot of times, Christians like to throw the Bible at people and forget that Jesus sat with people and met them where they were.”
Joshua currently has the privilege of raising $5,000 per month in support as his salary. He believes that the success of support raising is not solely measured by meeting his financial goal but by addressing the spiritual needs on Howard’s campus.
At the age of 21, Joshua feels he is in a unique position to connect with college students, and he views this time as ideal for reaching them. By providing financial support, contributors become a part of the ministry, helping to reach the high school seniors who will soon step foot on campus.
