It was the return of the beef with mushroom sauce for Episode 5 this week. I was fully prepared to walk the line between Smack or Wack for this historically divisive dish, but I was pleasantly surprised by the differences this time around. The last time we tried the beef it was dry, salty, and I didn’t take more than a bite. This time, it was more tender and sauced with better flavor. In addition, it came with a side of garlic potato wedges that outshined the main and really carried the whole meal. Given this great improvement, I felt it appropriate to give a rating of 6.5. The roast beef redeemed itself in my eyes, but the other reviewers were still split. While we mostly received Smacks, this dish still has the highest rate of Wacks out of any of the dishes we have covered. Overall, it was an improvement from five weeks ago, but still left some to be desired from an entree.
