Cigna to Hold On-Campus BBQ This Thursday

Jack Breton, Staff Writer

University of Hartford has a long history of partnering with local companies to give students the opportunities to network and learn from employers in actual fields of study. The University of Hartford is partnering with Cigna this Thursday, October 18th to hold a Barbeque for students to network and learn about job and internship opportunities.

Cigna is a global health services organization that provides health insurance to many individuals worldwide, mostly through plans from employers. Cigna provides health, life, dental, disability, and accident insurance to its clients and is currently an S&P 500 company. Cigna is headquartered in Bloomfield, CT and Philadelphia, PA. The Bloomfield, CT campus is located only a few miles away from the Campus of the University of Hartford. Cigna employs a large number of people at this campus, and is the current number 1 employer in Bloomfield, CT.

The University of Hartford will be holding a free BBQ in conjunction with Cigna this Thursday, October 18th as a networking opportunity for students and employees of Cigna. From 12-2pm, students, faculty, and staff are invited to Gengras Hawk Lounge to enjoy a free BBQ meal, network with Cigna leadership and employees, and learn about job and internship opportunities.

Cigna is a large partner with University of Hartford and consistently provides many students with internship opportunities during the summer and job opportunities after graduation. For any student with goals to work in the fields of finance, accounting, management, or insurance (to name a few), this is a great opportunity to meet with some potential employers and network for your future benefit.

Cigna currently has numerous job postings for internships in the fields of supply management, operations, investment management, and several other fields. At this meeting, students may discuss with employees of Cigna about these internship opportunities and possibly give potential employers resumes and contact information.

There is no preregistration required for this event and is open to any major. Anyone is welcome to come, enjoy the food, and learn about the opportunities that the 20th largest employer in the State of CT has to offer.
