Men’s Basketball suffers another loss

Stony Brook took the win 86-77, with Elijah Olaniyi scoring a game best of 28 points. The University of Hartford’s men’s basketball team fought back after being down by 13 to end the first half. Senior Jason Dunne scored 19 points, trying to help the Hawks make a miraculous comeback in the final minutes of regulation. Redshirt senior John Carroll added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Adding to this, senior George Blagojevic grabbed 10 points and 11 rebounds, earning themselves a double-double. This is the fourth double-double of the season for both of them. Stony Brook took a 25 point lead after going on a 13-0 run with 9:00 to play in the second half. The Hawks didn’t give up, as they fought to score 15 unanswered points, making the score 81-75 with less than a minute to go. Stony Brook went on to score the five points to ice the game and give Hartford its 12 lose overall and push them to 4-4 in conference play. Senior J.R. Lynch scored 14 for the Hawks and added seven assists. As a team Hartford shot a measly 35.7 percent from the field (25-70) while Stony Book shot 43.3percent (29-67). The Hawks are looking for a good rebound after this lose. They go on the road to try and take the regular season sweep against the defending league champions UMBC on Wednesday Feb. 6.
