On Saturday evening, the Hartford Wolfpack battled against their division rivals. The Wolfpack’s rivals are the Providence Bruins inside the XL Center. The Providence Bruins coming into the night’s game were looking to add to their 9-game point streak, but the Wolfpack had other ideas. Hartford was getting production from everyone on the ice, especially from their captain John Brodzinski who has been reliable all season long. Brodzinski assisted three of the five Wolfpack goals, including a Nils Lundkvist powerplay goal in the second period. That goal ultimately became the game-winner late in the second period.
After Lundkvist’s goal, the Wolfpack started to heat up and took complete control of their home ice. First, Patrick Khodorenko joined in on the scoring fun after receiving a perfect pass from Ty Ronning behind the Bruins net, giving the Wolfpack a 4-2 lead. This was Wolfpack’s second goal scored via the powerplay on the night. Then, Ty Ronning’s name was announced over the PA system once again, scoring a goal off a rebound to give the Wolfpack a 5-2 lead late in the third period. Ronning’s goal was one for the record books as he scored his career-high eleventh goal of the season.
The Wolfpack are set to hit the XL Center ice again this week, as they have a full slate of games. First, they take on the Bellville Senators on Wednesday night, followed by a battle with the Hershey Bears on Saturday evening. Capping the weekend off is an in-state matchup against the Bridgeport Islanders.
